Mindful Self Compassion Retreat

Spend time in a relaxing retreat setting at Natchez Trace State Park learning to bring compassion to yourself. You will be instructed in the practice of mindful self compassion meditation and guided in meditation, yoga, and forest bathing. For mental health professionals, this is an opportunity to learn the practices not only for themselves but also to understand their value for clients.

Come for just the all day retreat on Saturday or attend the entire weekend retreat. Registration begins Friday, December 6 at 6:30. The program begins and 7 pm and ends at 9 pm. Registration opens again on Saturday at 9 am. The program continues at 9:30 am and ends at 4:30 pm.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday as well as snacks and are included in the cost of the retreat. If staying for the entire retreat, you will need to reserve your own lodging. There is an inn on the grounds of Natchez Trace State Park. A double occupancy room costs $107.87 with tax. Rooms for those attending the retreat are being held at the inn until October 24. After that time, the rooms will be available on a first come, first serve basis. You are welcome to arrange for camping instead or to reserve a hotel room off the grounds.

If you are arriving on Friday, you will need to arrange your dinner beforehand. There is a restaurant (The Western Spur) on the grounds of the park that will be open until 8 pm and there are other restaurants in the area.

The cost of the weekend retreat including meals is $110. The cost for Saturday only is $90.

The retreat will be led by Amy Balentine and yoga will be taught by Karla Ingram, an Iyengar yoga instructor.

Amy is a psychologist and mindfulness mindfulness teacher. She is a qualified teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and has trained at the Center for Mindfulness at University of California, San Diego. She provides classes and retreats for children, teens, and adults on mindfulness and mindful self-compassion in addition to group and individual therapy.

Karla Ingram of Block and Bolster has been practicing Iyengar yoga with Lou Hoyt at Eastern Sun since 2012 and is expecting to obtain her Iyengar certification at the end of this year. She is currently teaching the yoga series Balance, Breathe, Bliss at Memphis Center for Mindful Living, LLC.
