Shelley Gabel

Hi, I’m Shelley.

I’m passionate about walking alongside people who are seeking growth and healing as they work through life’s challenges. My own journey of personal growth—and the helping professionals who supported me along the way—inspired me to pursue counseling. I know what it’s like to feel stuck, and I feel honored to now be in a place where I can support others the way I was supported.

I especially enjoy working with children, teens, and adults who are trying to make sense of life’s difficulties, build healthier relationships, and find more ease in their daily lives. I often work with clients who are navigating anxiety or relationship struggles and want to feel more confident, connected, and at peace.

My background in science and medical research, along with years of parenting experience, has deepened my interest in the science of healthy development and relational attachment. In therapy, I draw from approaches like CBT to help clients meet their goals and mindfulness practices to support nervous system regulation. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of healing, so I strive to create a safe, authentic, and supportive space for growth.

I’ve lived in Memphis for more than twenty years, though I was born and raised in Alabama. When I’m not counseling, I love spending time with my husband, our teenage daughter, and our German Shorthaired Pointer. You’ll often find me outdoors, driving country roads, traveling, or exploring historic sites.

If you’re looking for a compassionate therapist who will walk alongside you as you find healing and new possibilities, I’d love to meet you.
